Every summer me and amanda would go up and stay with grandma & grandpa for a few weeks. It was the summer tradition for us to crush all of the soda cans that grandpa had been saving up and take them down to the junk yard and cash them in. We would always wait until the last few days that we were in town so that we had saved every possible can we came across. After we would cash in the soda cans grandpa would take us out to get ice cream with the the earnings.

During the summers we would also pick flowers from grandpas garden to dry out. After we had let them dry completely we would sit down, grandpa, grandma, and amanda and we would make flower wreaths to take home when the summer was over.

Its funny how the smallest simplest tasks can mean so much to someone in so many ways. Its those things that i remember not the presents or the gifts but just the time that we spend togther working in the garden and cleaning things up around the house. Summers were always something to look forward to.

I will always remember the times you sat with me, the devotion to those of us that needed that extra push, you were always there. Even as I pushed you, you always smiled, chuckled at me, and turned me in the right direction. I will always remember you "Mr. Murphy", and I will look for you when I too get to heaven. God Bless you.

My dad was such a caring, kind hearted man and he was this way to everyone he came in contact with... I can remember it was just little things he did... when i was growing up he use to take me to the local Co-op in town ... and at christmas time they would sell candy in bulk... he would always buy me chocolate covered peanut clusters.... years later, on an exceptionally bad year... at christmas time I got a package from my dad. Peanut Clusters from the Co-op  after that he sent them to me every year again.. He knew what I needed always did... I am so blessed to have such great parents ~

there was never a time that any friend I brought home wasn't welcome in our home.. He loved all the kids and he had so much  compassion for others I can only hope to have a small amount of, and if even a small amount then I am so lucky ~

Oh the fun we had fishing up at Little Camas Reservoir!  It was a special time for me as a small boy, those trips were always exclusive to the "Men".  The town of Mountain Home has lost a great Teacher, Father, Veteran, Elk, Hunter, Fisher, Mentor, and Friend.  Hey Jim!  Is the hunting in Heaven as good as out at Carl Rau's place?

When the Murphy kids and the Parks kids were still just kids, Jim and Ken took us on an adventure to cut asparagus (or however you spell that weird vegetable), along the banks of a canal. It was an adventure, due to the fact that it was Jim and Ken and the kids...all 5 of us...all of the ladies must have kicked us out of the house for a birthday party or something. I don't have too many details, because it was so long ago, but I do know that no one fell in the canal and no one cut themselves. I think that we ended up at the Bruneau Dunes, and eventually made it home. I remember that we laughed A LOT and had a great time!
